2008 BMW X5

For 2008, the BMW X5 models consist of the X5 3.0si and X5 4.8i, which are differentiated by their powertrains. The 3.0si is powered by a 260 horsepower inline six-cylinder engine, while the 4.8i is propelled by a 4.8-liter Valvetronic V-8 producing 350 horsepower. Standard equipment on both models is a new six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. A six-speed manual is6no longer available.

Model year 2008 changes include: a new exterior color, Mineral Green Metallic, a new beige Leatherette is available on the 3.0si model, rear window shades are added to the Rear Climate Package, an optional Premium Sound Package includes the iPod/USB Adapter, and six-disc CD changer in the package is replaced with a DVD changer.

Specific goals have been established to keep up with the sport utility vehicle competition. These include optional seven-passenger seating, which increases the BMW X5's practicality. In addition, enhanced variability and versatility, such as fold-flat rear seats, roomier cargo area and automatic tailgate, provide even greater flexibility of usage.

Finally, the 2008 X5 includes an expanded offering of new possibilities including Active Steering, Active Roll Stabilization, Electronic Damping Control, rearview camera and variable second-row seating.
